Our Story
Little Bites, Big Smiles started as a mom’s quiet wish.
A wish for my son to not feel left out.
A wish for him to feel like he belongs, that he’s capable, and that he’s more than just his diagnosis.
A wish for my daughter to grow up with empathy, awareness, and kindness toward those who are a little different.
I started Little Bites, Big Smiles during one of those everyday moments—when I was just trying to find ways to make time at home more meaningful, especially for my son. As a child with autism, he sometimes struggled with connection, with routine, with change… and I wanted him to not just be around the fun, but to be part of it.
So we started small. One recipe each weekend.
Cooking became our safe space—something we both looked forward to. Slowly, it became more than just mixing ingredients—it became mixing moments of growth, connection, and joy.
And the best part? My daughter became his little guide.
She’d show him how to crack an egg, fix his grip on the spoon, and cheer him on every step of the way.
Watching them laugh, collaborate, and bond was like seeing magic unfold in my own kitchen.
My son, who once preferred being on his own, now waits for cooking day like it’s a surprise party.
He follows his sister around, not wanting to miss a moment.
And she? She’s growing up knowing that different isn’t wrong—it’s just different.
And worthy of love, patience, and understanding.
Little Bites, Big Smiles and the namesake book were born from those moments.
From the idea that home is the first classroom, and that every recipe is a lesson—not just in cooking, but in compassion, teamwork, and love.
